Dense Display of Data
Command and control interfaces typically consist of many types of high priority data. It is important to prioritize the information accordingly and this can be done in several ways. Whether by increasing the size of the information or reducing the amount of competing data, my first iterations of designs focused on showing only what was necessary (based on user input) to complete user workflows.
After being fielded internationally we realized that customers within the United States were much more content with having as much data as possible on the screens to inform their decision making process. In order to accommodate their need for more visible data, I had to reimagine how to fit as much information into the views we had already established in the application. This led to reduced padding, smaller font sizes, and making use of any available whitespace.
